The Score by Elle Kennedy Review

The Score (Off-Campus) (Volume 3) - Elle Kennedy

Goodreads Synopsis:

He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

Review:

Elle Kennedy has become one of my favourite authors! She knows exactly how to tell a story that captivates you.

In this story we’re introduced to Dean Di Laurentis, Briars infamous player in more ways than one. Not only is he on the hockey team but he leaves a trail of girls in his wake. Then there’s Allie, she’s a “nester”, always has a steady boyfriend and aspires to become an actress. So what happens when these two decide to become friends with benefits? Only a lot of drama and laughs.

What I love about Elle’s books is that the main characters never immediately fall in love, most of the time they can’t stand each other! Although Dean and Allie seem completely different they’re good together.

I love the friendship all the hockey boys have and their protectiveness towards the girls, girlfriend or not, as we saw when Sean turned up drunk at Allie’s door and Garrett threatened to beat him if he tried anything.

I loved that we got to see another side to Dean when coaching the Hurricanes and how good he was with the kids, definitely a swoon worthy quality! This story was also full of laugh out loud moments with my favourite being when the cops were called after Allie thought Dean was an intruder and she hit him over the head, that whole situation had me in stitches!

The whole story captivated me as I couldn’t put it down! Not a lot of books have a satisfying ending but this one was perfect. It also left us with a major cliff hanger for Tuckers story which I cannot wait to get my hands on!

These books just keep you wanting more and of course leave you wanting a hockey boy of your own. If your looking for a good new adult contemporary series, look no further!
