This is where I talk mostly about Young Adult and New Adult books. Thanks for checking out my reviews :)
Goodreads Synopsis:
Blaire Hayes enjoys a quiet life, spending her days as a CNA at the local nursing home and nights studying for exams. She prefers things to be as uncomplicated as possible -- but when her friends drag her to a party and she bumps into her high school crush, the path of Blaire’s life veers in an entirely different direction than what she had planned for herself.
Jason Bryant created a nice life away from his hometown, putting distance between himself and the suffocating sadness of his father’s death. But when he finds out his grandfather’s health is deteriorating, he decides he must return home. Partying was not on his agenda while in town, but it’s how he bumps into Blaire Hayes—the girl he’d always thought of in high school as an unobtainable pass.
Together the two learn there are moments in life that hold within them all the power to break you...
Review:
I was pleasantly surprised by this book, I just happened upon it on iBooks so didn't have many expectations.
I really loved the characters in this book especially Blaire's best friends Lauren and Paige. They were such good friends to Blaire and their bond was that of typical best friends that you would expect. I liked how Jason's reaction to Blaire's news was real as anyone in his position would have freaked out. They also didn't immediately slip into playing happy families and knew they had to work at their issues. Although I knew where the story was going to go I still enjoyed getting to see how it all unfolded.
The author did an amazing job of telling the story from both Blaire and Jason's POV and making their characters as real as possible. As the book had quite an abrupt ending I would love to read more from their story.
This was the first book by Jennifer that I have read and would definitely read another. Overall this was a very enjoyable, fast read, perfect for getting you out of a reading slump :)
